The search for a true Fair Trade needlepoint partner was not a simple one- it was years in the making. Hand-stitched needlepoint is an increasingly rare art, with fewer than ten manufacturers worldwide that we know of, and in a market saturated by machine-made alternatives, finding craftsmanship of genuine quality, let alone ethical integrity, proved exceptionally difficult.

After more than 3 years of searching, Kate found Good Threads Needlepoint based in Haiti, the only certified BCorp among them. A B Corporation meets the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, while Fair Trade ensures that artisans are paid equitably, work in safe conditions, and are treated with dignity and respect. These are not labels we take lightly, they are the foundation of everything we create.

The artisans behind each Bauble Stocking are skilled stitchers who earn the equivalent of a Haitian mid-level nurse or teacher, making this work not only meaningful but transformative. Many are single mothers who have achieved financial independence through their craft; others are parents supporting their families with pride. We are especially proud of the stitchers who have gone on to purchase land and build their own homes, milestones that speak to the lasting impact of fair wages and flexible work.

Stitchers are able to work from home and set their own hours- creating an environment where autonomy and opportunity go hand in hand. It is work that honors both tradition and livelihood, and we are proud to partner with one of the best-paying employers in southern Haiti.
